Let the high mileage begin!

I am pleased to give you….a ride report!

Well, OK, don’t get excited.  It was five miles into town and back.  But it was still riding.

See? I am all geared up and my visor is open, proving that this is an “I’m about to ride” photo as opposed to an “I’m doing another MidgetStig photoshoot” photo.

Woo metal blades on my feet!

I had my 6-week postpartum appointment on Tuesday (already?!) and the doc proclaimed me all healed up and able to do pretty much anything I want to do.  Hooray!

Peter was working at the ice rink on Wednesday, so I brought Kira over during his lunch break and I hit the ice.  I didn’t skate too much — only about 10 minutes — but much like recovering from my back injury, I figured starting small would be a good plan. 😉

I look sad and 12 years old in this photo:

That’s better!

I did a few laps around the whole rink, then practiced hockey stops on both sides against the boards for about 5 minutes, then did crossovers.  My clockwise crossovers totally suck but the counterclockwise are passable.

The highlight of the post-skating experience was watching a little girl dressed all in light pink, wearing hockey skates/gloves/helmet.   I almost never see adult women at public skates wearing hockey skates, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a little girl there in anything but figure skates.  This brightened my heart.

Midget Stig and Stig-In-Training

April and Susan wanted to do another photo shoot — who am I to stand in the way of greatness?  They came over on Sunday night and set up the mini studio in our driveway.

Yeah, that’s all nice and good, but we’ve already done a Midget Stig photoshoot, haven’t we?  We need something different.  What do we have lying around that’s cute and photogenic?  I know!  The baby!

A sleep-deprived new mom watches the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Round 3

Despite watching nearly all of the Round 3 games, I have very little memory of anything that happened.  This may be related to watching the game with a very small human attached to me who was not impressed with mom’s color commentary on the games in question but instead wanted to be walked around, nursed, changed, or pandered to in other mysterious ways.

Early motorcycling photos

A few photos of our attempts to indoctrinate Kira into the world of motorcycling at the ripe old age of 18 days.  You can’t start brainwashing too early!

First picture with the Ninjette:

Subliminal messaging: equating clothes/comfort/warmth/happiness with the motorcycle.  Mmmmm, motorcycle.

Kira’s first MotoGP race!  “Mom, why do you keep talking about this guy Rossi like he’s any good? He’s barely making the top 10!”  “Shush, child.”
