technical update.
Apologies to those on the mailing list who've heard this a million times already. For the rest of you, here's the deal. The server that was hosting bluepoof.com went down quasi-unexpectedly two days before I left on vacation. I got everything I had backed up moved over to the new host before I left, but the backups only went up to October 16 (this is why November is magically gone from my journal page right now). Also, I didn't have time to reconfigure the script that serves the picture pages to work on the new host, which is why the pictures are all messed up right now.

I'm hoping to have it all fixed by this weekend, but rest assured that it will all get fixed eventually. The pictures are all still there, so if you happen to know the filepath for one you're looking for, you can still see it.

a quick vacation report.
I'm happy to say that Peter and I had a wonderful time on our vacation, despite it involving almost no motorcycles at all. I was starting to develop a nervous tic by the end of the trip. Fortunately, I'd brought along my copy of Peter Egan's Leanings, and read the whole thing about three times on the airplanes.

Those of you who remember our last trip to the Cayman Islands, two years ago, will be relieved to hear that we did not attempt to rent Evil this time around. Though I noticed that the current popular model of Yamaha scooter is the "Axis", which would have allowed me endless "Axis of Evil" jokes. Aren't you glad you don't have to suffer through that?

neener neener.
Those of you in the Midwest and other snowed-in climates can stop reading now. I'll let you know when it's safe again.

After nine straight days without motorcyling, I knew that this weekend had to include some sort of ride. Fortunately, Paul is always good for a trip up the hills. I've been idly fantasizing about the freshly-baked cinnamon bread at the Pescadero deli, so I'm trying to twist his arm into going there for lunch. Mmmmmmm.

This is going to be really fun. It's supposed to be sunny and in the 60's all along our route. I love living in California.

OK, those Midwesterns who didn't just close their browsers in disgust can start reading again now.

and you knew me way back when.
Motorcycle Online just published my first article for them, a review of the Daytona LadyStar GTX boots. See it here. If you don't have an MO account, let me know and I can email you a copy of the article.

If reading about my adventures with Women on Wheels over the past year and a half hasn't inspired you to become a member (or a support member, for you boys out there), here's your new excuse. Starting with their Winter issue, I'm going to start writing a technical/mechanical-oriented column for the national magazine. Some of it will be along the same lines as the write-ups on this site, some of it will be more explanatory essays...who knows. We'll see what the peeps want.

I've also been talking with the folks at Woman Rider, and will hopefully be contributing some stuff to their quarterly print magazine as well.

So, as you can tell, it's a pretty exciting time. Hopefully I'll have enough time between writing all these articles to do some actual riding!
