andrea's news.
Andrea and I went out riding on Tuesday evening; we rode over to Danger's soon-to-be new parking lot (a few blocks from my current apartment), puttered around there for a bit, then rode to dinner.

Read Andrea's account of the evening here.

We also went out last Friday, and we were once again quizzed by a (different) security guard at the new Danger parking lot. This time, after we convinced him that we really did work for Danger, he told us we could stay as long as we wanted to, and then gave us both little pens that light up. *shrug*

The practice must have paid off, because she passed her MSF range exam yesterday! Woohoo! Next step: aquiring the actual license, also known as Spending Your Life at the DMV. Poor Andrea.

peter's news.
Peter bought new gloves this weekend, which was more exciting than it sounds because he had to put up with me telling him what he actually wanted throughout three different stores. I did finally shut up, and he picked out a very nice pair of Olympia Studded Kevlar Sport Gloves all by his very own self.

Peter has also been very patient with me lately regarding the new house, as I want to do crazy things like rip up carpeting and take over the entire garage and buy new furniture. I'm pretty impressed. Our move-in date is just under three weeks away and we haven't actively tried to kill each other yet....

the bandit's news.
It still runs! This is very exciting. I half-expected it to hork out again two days after it started up in the first place.

Aside from that...let's see. I got the gixxer forks back from AfterShocks, though they included a surprise $60 fee for "spring modification". Mark, who picked the forks up for me (thanks again!), said that they had to cut the spring in order to get the correct weight? Or something? This confused me, since Mark originally brought them the stock forks in their entirety, and presumably, the stock spring used to fit in the stock fork tube. I've been too lazy to call AfterShocks and ask them what the fee was about. At any rate, the gixxer forks are now on the Bandit. This is a good thing.

I won a second Ebay auction from a local guy who was selling a GSX-R1100 wheel plus rotors for $40. I was planning on paying more than that for rotors alone, so I snatched up the whole thing. Hey, extra wheel. Can't hurt. I should get that this week, and then all I'll need to do is install the wheel, attach gixxer calipers and brake lines (I already have these) to the bike, and then hopefully, the Bandit will be ready to be ridden to the new house.

the svs's news.
We've got a nice big trip coming up, which makes us both very happy. The Sport-Touring.net Northern California Adventure is coming up on October 9-12. I was getting a little apprehensive about the ride, since almost 20 people have signed up for it, but the ride instigator did one of the smartest things I've heard: he made the ride a "mutual destination" ride instead of a "group ride". The current plan is to divide up into groups no larger than four or five every morning, and then everyone just ends up at a set motel each night for stories, photos, cocktails, etc.

The current plan is to ride down to Merced on Thursday night, Oct 9. Here's Friday's route to Grass Valley, and Saturday's route to Weaverville. Sunday will be a long ride home to the Bay Area. The planned routes are roughly 400 miles per day, making it about a 1200-mile weekend. Yum.
