Pictures from the Women on Wheels Ride-In 2001

Thursday, July 5:

Starting mileage: 3350
Ending mileage: 3635
Ride total so far: 510.8 miles
Map for the day

Highway 1 north of Fort Bragg was really beautiful early in the morning.
These were taken just north of Westport, right up against the ocean.
What a perfect road!
The famous "Drive-Through Tree" in Leggett, right where Highways 1 and 101 meet.
Only accessible by marginally concerning gravelly dirt roads. Don't say I didn't warn you.
I convinced a lady in the gift shop to take my picture. Check out the glow from the Halo!
Quite possibly the coolest picture from the entire trip.
Avenue of the Giants, which runs parallel to Hwy 101 for a few miles in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
...and again. This area was just amazing.
...and again, with sunglasses, so I'm not all squinty.
Despite beautiful weather along Hwy 1, Fortuna was about 60 degrees, cold, and miserable.
Highway 36 was a ton of fun. Check out the rollar coaster-like road there. This is just south of Bridgeville.
These rock formations with their brilliant color, compared to the fogginess of the day, literally took my breath away.
This picture shows nothing but Pure Goodness. Taken just east of Hayfork.
About two turns down from Hayfork Summit (~3660 feet).

(The rest of these pictures were taken in the hotel parking lot, when I was ogling all the bikes)

A gorgeous custom-painted cruiser that was at the Ride-In.
This was hard core. Someone rode this scooter all the way from Wisconsin.
I loved this.
I got a kick out of all the swag on this tourer. People decorated their bikes with some crazy stuff.
Dee Gagnon's Red Pony, the star of her awesome book.

On to Day 3!
