Well.

If you ever want to get the strangest looks from people ever, you go to a bridal store on a Friday afternoon in late April, dressed in full leathers and carrying your dress in a tailbag.

Every bride-to-be in Milpitas (and trust me, there are many) will be in there with their entire extended familes, ooohing and ahhing over fabrics and little Susie in her flower girl dress. Mothers will be fretting around and girlfriends will be giggling and grooms-to-be and groomsmen will be slumped onto couches, half-asleep, baseball caps pulled down over their faces.

And then you walk in and ask where you're supposed to take your dress for alterations, and everyone will slowly turn and stare at you. You can tell that everyone there handled their various dresses with kid gloves, and it's unfathomable that you just walked in with blue hair and leathers and a helmet and pulled your dress out of a tail bag.

Glorious.

So, yeah. Tonight I get to go back and pick the dress up again. I'm very easily amused.

weekend riding.
Peter and I are going on a birthday ride this weekend, which makes me very happy. We haven't really figured out a route yet, but we'll be spending the night tomorrow in Nice, CA, which is on the northern shore of Clear Lake, in Lake County. You have to love any place that puts pictures like this on their web site.

I'm thinking we'll do some of the same roads that I took on the Sport-Touring.net Lake Berryessa ride. Probably get up to Napa, and then maybe take part of the Silverado Trail up to Popes Canyon and Butts Canyon Roads. From there, Highway 29 will get us to Clear Lake. We could also do 121/128 instead of Silverado, and go along the coast of Lake Berryessa again...who knows. I think it'll depend on how early of a start we get, and how the wrists are doing. Obviously, there'll be maps and write-ups after the fact. ;)

I'm pretty excited. Peter and I have never done an overnight trip just the two of us. We both rode to the Pacific Rally last year, but that was a rally, not a romantic weekend. ;) Hopefully we won't want to kill each other after two full days on the road.
