ok, let's talk about bikes.
See? I promised you I'd be back today to talk about "real" motorcycling. Enough of this psychobabble meta crap! Let's talk about bikes! I'm there for y'all. :D

it's short attention span theater for biking!
I talked to Meriwest about my bike loan today. Turns out the dealer messed up and gave the DMV *their* name (instead of Meriwest's) as the lienholder on my bike. So now Meriwest won't send a check to the credit card (which wants its 5 grand by the end of the month) until they've straightened it out with the dealer and the DMV to make sure they get my title. Whew. Luckily, the Meriwest agent offered to make all the necessary phone calls.

Ann is continuing her fine tradition of having weird and unfortunate things happen to her bike. Read her account of the latest mishaps here.

The blinky gas alert light didn't go on until *147.2* miles today. I was so proud. I'm beginning to agree with Peter that it's a design flaw to have the gas light blink at .6 gallons and then go steady at .3 gallons. At night, it's really obvious that the light is blinking, but during the day it's practically invisible. Since I only glance down at my console for a fraction of a second while driving, most of the time, I looked while the blinky light was in "off" mode, and so I probably drove for a mile or so before even realizing that it was blinking. Not that a mile would make any difference, but, whatever.

I added a review for Riding High to the books page, and a link to Mi Moto Fidel, though I haven't started reading that one yet.

I think I'm going to ride up to Half Moon Bay on Sunday, assuming that the nice weather holds. I'm having a Not Planning Anything Dammit weekend, though, so that'll be a spur of the moment decision.

My coworker Sara (the one with the Yamaha Maxim 750) has been trying in vain to take the MSF class. She likens trying to get into the class to waiting for a kidney. She finally got in when there was a last-minute cancellation, and so she took the first classroom class, but when she showed up for riding class, one of the instructors was missing. They couldn't teach the entire class with an instructor missing, so they had a lottery to see who'd be bumped, and Sara was one of the unlucky. She's a little hesitant to try to start the whole sign-up process over again, and as much as I'd like to see her take the class, I can't really say I blame her.

Only 150 more miles until I can "legally" take the SVS up to 7000rpms. And then only 500 more miles until I can go full throttle. It's no wonder that most people just totally ignore break-in requirements. Jeez.

Peter and I are trying to get into Doc Wong's basic motorcycle maintenance class on the 23rd (which is also Peter's 25th birthday, in case anyone wants to send him money or lavish gifts or anything). There are only 30 total spots in the class; I'm hoping I didn't try to register too late.

I printed out the DMV personalized plate form today. I'm going to go with "REDPOOF," though I'm thinking that I should wait until the whole fiasco with Meriwest, the dealer, and the DMV is straightened out.
