I clearly have no actual problems in my life, because I’m stressing out about what panniers to get for the F650GS.
I’ve narrowed the choices to:
Jesse (black)
(Saddlebags only for the time being)
Stats:
* 48 L per bag
* 8″W x 20″L x 17″H
Pros:
* I like the way the black looks
* Lid storage would let me carry first aid kit and tools without reducing carrying capacity for clothes, etc
Cons:
* More expensive than earth
* I don’t know whether stickers on black would look hinky
Hepco-Becker (aluminum)
Stats:
* 43L per bag
* 11.8″W x 18.7″L x 13.8″H
Pros:
* Looks nice
* Reasonable cost
Cons:
* I’m not sure my laptop would fit without going diagonally
Touratech Vega (aluminum)
Stats:
* 41 L per bag
* 10.5″W x 17.3″L x 14.7″H
Pros:
* People I know and trust have these and really like them
Cons:
* Almost as spendy as the Jesses
* Also not sure about the 15″ laptop fitting in
Happy Trails Teton(aluminum)
(photo courtesy of advrider.com; I couldn’t find one of an F650GS with the Tetons)
Stats:
* 9″W x 18″L x 15″H
Pros:
* Reasonably priced
* I have other Happy Trails things (tail rack on the XT) and have been very happy with the build quality
Cons:
* Not as sexy as the Jesses 😉
Any comments/suggestions/recommendations?
