Woo! We won a game!!! And woo! I scored a goal!!!
OK, that’s enough exclamation points for this entry. But still, woo.
Belmont was surprisingly dry tonight after Sunday’s wading-pool game. Judging from others’ comments about Belmont in the summer, I think it had more to do with the cooler weather today than from any actual maintenance that the rink may have done in the interim.
There were a lot of subs tonight, leaving us in the bizzare (to me) position of having too many players to keep track of. I think we wound up with two D lines, 2 centers, and 3 wing lines. I played left wing for the game, always with some combination of Wendy, Melanie, and/or Kendra. It was a nice line, and we had a lot of really great passes, plays, and shots on goal.
I actually scored the first goal of the game (and my first goal in a game ever) — one of our Ds cleared the puck down the ice, and I wound up chasing it down from about the center line along with one of G3’s defensemen. I got to the puck first, shot from the left corner, the D deflected it. I caught the deflection and shot again…this time, it went in at a kickass angle right behind the goalie.
I got an assist on our third goal, too, when I got a good pass to Kendra, who took it in and had a great shot herself. Woo!
I love being on the ice, win or lose, but it sure was nice to win a game after a losing streak. Yay!
…oh, and I tried to save the game puck, but the ref had already tossed it into the bag. So I just grabbed another puck from the bag. I figure, heck, close enough. 🙂
See those #38s? That’s me! 🙂
